Clone settings of XnView MP

Post by LuNik »

Hi there,
I run XnView MP Version 1.4.5 on my Windows 11 Desktop PC and want to install it with the same layout, colors and others settings on my laptop.
Therefore I copied xnview.ini, style_sheet.qss and style_sheet_win.qss to the corresponding folders on my laptop.
It seems that not all settings where copied to the Laptop installation, at least the color of the filelist panel is differnet.

What do I have to do to set up an installation of XnView MP with "identical" settings on another computer. Is there another and easier way than what I did?

Best regards
Ludger

P.S. Even if I change setting in style_sheet.qss manually on the laptop, sometimes for example after a reboot the light theme shown up. Very strange behavior on the laptop ... I checked it right now for several times: after changing colors via the setting menu I had a color lyout of my choice. But after restarting MpViewMP some panels where in a light color again ...
Seems that at least the color setting s are not really stored or read from another location ... Very confusing for me ...

I store the settings in the user folder (Setting|Integration|Paths|XnView settings|Use .ini file in folder User (system) and style_sheet.qss and style_sheet_win.qss in the installation subfolder/UI of c:/programs in my case c:/programs/MpViewMP/UI ....

Bonjour Pierre et merci!

Thats what I did! Are there more setting files than the ones that I mentioned?

But I got it working meanwhile...

What I did is the following:
First the location of the xnview.ini was set to "Program (XnView)". I changed that to "User (System)". Then I copied my xnview.ini to the User (System) path, style_sheet.qss and style_sheet_win.qss to the UI subdirectory of the installation path of XnViewMP. Then (and I think this caused the strange behavior) I deleted the xnview.ini in the installation directory (because I changed the location to User (System) !!!).
After I copied xnview.ini to both the installation directory and C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\XnViewMP it worked. I didn't expect this to be necessary.
So the issue is solved for me!

Merci beaucoup!
Ludger
