For some reason, the browser fails to recognize certain PNG files as images; file details are shown on a gray background in the listing (rather than pale peach) lacking image info (size etc.) and double-clicking on those files opens them in the external viewer. Open item is also grayed out in the right-click menu. However, if you expressly add XnView MP as “external” viewer, those files open just fine in the viewer using the “Open With...” menu. Those files are also properly recognized as PNG images in the Preview and Info panes (the preview and all image info are properly shown)
Edit: Apparently, this issue is not restricted to PNG... I’ve also found a couple of JPEGs suffering from the same problem. Opening those files in the viewer and re-saving them fixes the problem, but it is still annoying.

even you if use 'View>Update catalog from files'?
