Sorting based on time - issue because two camera seems to store time differently [Linux]

Post by Sprintdriver »

First: I assume this is not a Xnview issue.

I've imported image files from two separate devices (An Huawei Android phone and a Sony DSC-RX100M3 pocket camera).
The software I used to import the images are Rapid Photo Downloader.

Issue 1: In file manager, the modified time stamp for the Sony camera is about 1 hour later than the Huawei phone (two images that I know was taken at the same time - within a 10 min time span).

Issue 2 : The way the exif date taken is represented way different between the Huawei phone and the Sony camera.
Examples - Exif line (copy and pasted here):
Huawei: Date taken 7/10/23 - 1:06:24 PM CEST
Sony: Date taken 7/10/23 - 12:44:08 PM CEST

This is two photos that are supposed to being taken with about a half an hour between.

What's the best way of rectify this issue ?

The date/time settings on each device seems to be correct, I've already checked this.

Yes, I'll try change timestamp.

The thing is that I live in Norway, so I'm not used to the PM/AM notification. I do know that AM corresponds to the hours 00:00-11:59:59 (in 24h clock) and that PM corresponds to 12:00 - 23:59:59.
However, the notion of "12:44:08 PM CEST" is very confusing for me because I'd taught that the time in PM notion cannot get any greater than 11:59:59.

So either I've missed something (something about the AM/PM system I simply doesn't know) or there is a bug in software (phone or camera) that allows a greater number for time.
