Category "Other" Unable to delete?

I recently had to rebuild my Categories using all the images that were tagged with the metadata using the "Import XMP subject or IPTC keywords to DB Categories" function.

I noticed that all the default categories I was able to delete except for one: "Other". Never had this issue before.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes.
Later, I created new categories , then I could delete this one.

I dont know if anything else permits to delete it
I think it's not possible to have no categories at all.

I can delete categories I created myself. I can't delete the "Other" Category that comes by Default.

Yes this is still happening!

Also there is a side-effect: when you want to delete multiple categories with shift+select, it doesn't work if you select a group of categories with the Other category in it.

in 1.5.5 i can delete Other and it does not apper after restart

it just deletes cats one by one, but shall delete all selected


ps. regarding Other

Well, than its not special enough as it is possible to rename/delete/move_to_subcat and there is no option to revert these changes.

Do you have a lot of categories used ?

The only method I've found when this happens is:
Create a category. Move "Other" into this category, and then delete the parent category ...

Or wait for an unpredictable time, and then it will work.
