How do I disable zooming when holding left/right mouse button and using scroll wheel?

According to this older bug-report thread, it sounds like the function of zooming when holding left or right click and using the scroll wheel even when the scroll wheel is set to a different function is an intentional feature rather than a bug:

So I'm wondering how I may go about disabling this function in XnView MP since I have my scroll wheel set to scroll up/down which is something I sometimes like to use when in the middle of making selection rectangles.

(also I specifically use the Linux version of XnView MP if that makes any difference)

hold LMB/RMB + scroll Wheel = zoom

guess its better to add it to the Settings with options:
- Do nothing
- Zoom in/out [default?]
- Previous/next file

While there are more mouse options today, this still can't be disabled, so could an option be added for it please? Being able to keep expanding a selection while scrolling would be helpful.
