1.6.1: Thumbnail does not use ICC
1. Enable "use ICC" in General.
2. Observe that two perceptually same images in sRGB/AdobeRGB respectively look the same in viewer (correct), but not the same in thumbnail:

Re: 1.6.1: Thumbnail does not use ICC
I'm seeing the same problem in XnView 1.6.1 64 bit running on MacOS Ventura. If XnView thumbnails are set to use the embedded jpg, then thumbnails of sRGB and AdobeRGB versions of the same image are rendered similarly (the correct behaviour). But if I set XnView to generate High Quality thumbnails (and not use the embedded jpg) then the thumbnail of the AdobeRGB image is rendered incorrectly (too dull) as shown here.

For comparison this is how Adobe Bridge renders thumbnails of the same 2 images.

Here are links to sRGB and AdobeRGB versions of the same image.
https://i.postimg.cc/ZYXQ2n0s/temp-Image-QZvml9.jpg
https://i.postimg.cc/Kc1V0Bcg/temp-Image-TOZ9yu.jpg
NB. Ignore the rendering of these images on postimg site - they ignore the color profile too! Download the images and view in a colour managed application e.g. PS or XnView..
It appears that, when XNView is generating the HQ thumbnail, the ICC profile of the source image is being ignored.

Re: 1.6.1: Thumbnail does not use ICC
It's not the only problem with thumbnail display. If the monitor profile is wide gamut (not sRGB), then thumbnails of both sRGB and AdobeRGB images are displayed incorrectly (too bright). This happens whether using the inbuilt thumbnails from the images or high quality generated thumbnails. NB. I have set XnView to use system icc profile for monitor.

Re: 1.6.1: Thumbnail does not use ICC
Hi Pierre.
Is this a bug that is likely to be fixed? Or is it a limitation we have to live with? If it's the latter I may have to swap back to Adobe Bridge which would be a shame because XnView MP runs more quickly and smoothly, and has more features, but correct thumbnail rendering is a basic necessity for me, especially on a wide gamut monitor.

Re: 1.6.1: Thumbnail does not use ICC
XnView MP 1.6.1
Mac OS Ventura 13.6.1
2017 iMac 5K Retina Display with Wide Gamut Profile set
XnView set to use ICC Profile for monitor = System
Thumbnail settings and thumbnail rendering as shown below

If I set my monitor to sRGB I get this.

So, irrespective of what I set my monitor profile to, the thumbnail of the AdobeRGB is rendered duller than the thumbnail of the sRGB image. They should appear almost the same (as they do in Adobe Bridge and other software I have). This problem only affects the thumbnails. The full screen views are fine.

**Don't forget to rebuild the thumbnails after turning "Use embedded thumbnail" to OFF**
Re: 1.6.1: Thumbnail does not use ICC
If You testing this images on 1.6.2 beta version, maybe You jet resolved this issue (newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=46302).xnview wrote: Sun Nov 12, 2023 9:26 am i'm not able to reproduce, could you post a screenshot of 'Settings>Thumbnails'?
In 1.6.1 I see this bug too on similar settings.
Re: 1.6.1: Thumbnail does not use ICC
i can't reproduce on my Mac Book Pro, try to set 'sRGB' for 'RGB profile used when embedded profile doesn't exist', and rebuild thumbnails?
What do you have in system field for screen profile?

Re: 1.6.1: Thumbnail does not use ICC
OK I just tried that. It makes no difference. Rebuilt thumbnail from AdobeRGB image is still duller than rebuilt thumbnail from sRGB imagexnview wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2023 8:57 am i can't reproduce on my Mac Book Pro, try to set 'sRGB' for 'RGB profile used when embedded profile doesn't exist', and rebuild thumbnails?
Use ICC system profile which is currently "/Users/mark/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/iMac + i1Pro (GB LED).icc"
(which was generated by X-Rite i1 Display Pro)
I also tried setting OS system monitor profile to sRGB and AdobeRGB, but in all cases the thumbnail generated by XnView MP from the AdobeRGB file is duller than the thumbnail generated from the sRGB image.

Could you send me it?NewXnViewFan wrote: Wed Nov 15, 2023 9:17 am

I don't think my custom monitor profile is the problem though as I see the same problem (AdobeRGB thumbnail is duller than sRGB) using the standard sRGB, iMac and AdobeRGB monitor profiles too.

Re: 1.6.1: Thumbnail does not use ICC
I just tried the same test on my MacBook Air (Ventura 13.6.1) and see the same problem.
