Save as... saves the image that was opened with any edits as a new image, immediately displaying the new image in the same tab, if that is what you suggest, would result in any unsaved changes to the original image being lost, which might be unwanted. It would also prevent further changes being made to the open image if desired and a further version being saved.
Does that make sense?
Save As function does not refresh or reload the saved image
