Video preview broken in 1.8 on Linux/KDE

Video preview worked with 1.7.2, no preview with 1.8 on Linux/KDE/Tumbleweed. Does not matter if running on X11 or Wayland.
What could I do to track this down?

check "Video" in "Show as Thumbnail" column (Settings > Custom filter)
