Problems with Large Directory

I have a directory of 1Gb containing 4000 images.
When I try to open the directory with XnView, XnView usually just hangs. Sometimes it works after 4 or 5 attempts.
Sometimes not at all.
This afternoon it worked first time, but hung later.

Can anybody explain?

Strange, i have no problem. Could you try to disable the cache?

I've disabled the cache and it now works.
But I'll still have to check that it works consistently.

Um, presumably I lose something by disabling the cache? Is this issue explained anywhere in documentation?

When disabling the cache thumbnails will be created each time, i must change the cache system soon...
