I got a TIFF-file - a snippet is attached - where the metadata-word "Getreidemühle" is displayed both correct (tab ExifTool and IPTC/XMP) and wrong (statusbar, file properties). I think the file was made with a camera and modified with Lightroom and then converted to TIFF - so it is not clear where the wrong encoding of the file came from.
But nevertheless - can the background of this behaviour be explained? Where does it comes from? How to avoid? Is the different display OK or are different sources displayed?
We are at the beginning of a project and it would be great to avoid errors.
Thanks in advance for advice.

Re: German Umlaute - Getreidemühle or Getreidemühle
I can't reproduce the problem, all umlauts are OK here. Perhaps check settings - metadata - encoding:
(The "embedded comment" is, so it looks, in utf-8 in this case, but there are all kinds of them still fooling around.)
