1.8.6: Open Archives (*.zip etc.) in XnViewMP does not work anymore

Version: XnView MP 1.8.6 64 bit
OS: Linux 64bit

Problem:
If you click on an archive file or press Enter, the content is no longer displayed (I have only tested zip files, but it is likely that the other archive files are also affected)

I had a look at the old AppImage versions to find out from which version it stopped working:
The last version where it still works is:

• XnView_MP-1.5.5.glibc2.17-x86_64.AppImage

The first version where this no longer works:

• XnView_MP-1.6.0.glibc2.17-x86_64.AppImage

In this context, I noticed that the rating of images within (zip-)archives does not work (in version 1.5.5). But I don't know if this is a bug or if it belongs to the “Suggestions” section.

What do you mean exactly? Do you mean XnView_MP-1.8.6-linux-x64.tgz? Or do you mean a plugin? Is the code of tgz and AppImage different? Whatever you want - i can try it some hours later.

I think probably the developer meant to ask me to verify if the same error occurs with the tgz archive, in order to isolate the problem.
Oh well, gotta put in the effort.

- The test platform was Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS.

Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.8. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
