Some Metadata tabs are missing when image is first opened from Explorer
In Windows Explorer I double click an image to open in XnView which I know has IPTC metadata embedded in it. When XnView first opens, the image is highlighted in the browser window but the Information panel is missing the metadata tabs (the only 2 tabs showing in the information panel are 'Properties' and 'Exiftool'). If I click away from the image (in the XnView browser window) and then back onto it, the Information panel now shows all the correct tabs (i.e. Properties/Exif/IPTC-IIM/XMP/Exiftool).

Settings:

When I first double click the image in Explorer it opens in XnView with just 2 tabs showing in the Info panel:

But if I click away onto a different image and then back on to the first image, it now shows all the info panels like this:

Also you can see the first time it's also missing details about the image properties (height/width etc).

Re: Some Metadata tabs are missing when image is first opened from Explorer
I have a triple monitor setup on my PC so XnView opens the fullscreen image on my main center monitor and the browser window on the 3rd right-hand monitor. This right-hand XnView browser window is where I can see the missing tabs.

Re: Some Metadata tabs are missing when image is first opened from Explorer
Hi,
I reproduce this problem, only the tabs "Properties" and "Exiftool" appear.
The other tabs are only displayed by selecting another image.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.9.0. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Can confirm it seems to be fixed in 1.9.0.xnview wrote: Mon May 26, 2025 6:24 am This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.9.0. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
But it also appears to have created a new bug. In settings I have this set:
Interface>Switching modes>Double click: Browser <-> Fullscreen | Viewer <->Fullscreen
What used to happen was I could double click an image and it would show a fullscreen preview on my 2nd monitor. Then if I double clicked on the fullasreen preview it would disappear. But now if I double click on the fullscreen preview it no longer disappears (pressing Escape or Enter still works and makes the fullscreen preview go away but double-clicking on the fullscreen preview doesn't).
