Batch convert now rotates images
I've always used batch convert before and it worked as expected. But in the last update, when I now batch convert images it changes the rotation of some of the images from portrait to landscape. I have the same batch convert settings that I've always used and couldn't see any setting in there anyway that would cause rotation.
Re: Batch convert now rotates images
All files, or particular file types?
Re: Batch convert now rotates images
They're all jpgs and it seems to just change all portrait images to landscape.
Re: Batch convert now rotates images
Do you have a file you can post for Pierre to test if needed?
Re: Batch convert now rotates images
Might have found the reason but I'm slightly confused. For example, this image is one that rotates from portrait to landscape if I run a batch convert operation on it.

Before I run batch convert on it I can see it has a small icon in the XnView browser which looks like a rotation arrow and XnView says it has a width of 3264px and height of1836px so I'm presuming XnView thinks it's been rotated to begin with. But if I go to its properties in Windows it has a width of 1836px and height of 3264px so it does appear to be genuinely in portrait. And if I open it in something like Gimp, it is in portrait mode there too.
But as soon as I run batch convert on it, it turns to landscape. This has only started happening since the last recent XnView update where it now starts to think that some of my portrait images are actually landscape to start with.

Re: Batch convert now rotates images
This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.8. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Seems to be fixed in 1.8.8
One thing I noticed before and after batch conversion is the thumbnail looks slightly wider before conversion (although the actual image is the same size, just the thumbnail):

(Before conversion is top row, after conversion is 2nd row).
It also strips out the small orientation/rotation arrow during conversion:

Re: Batch convert now rotates images
Strange, they display fine for me, even in other browsers.
Is this image not displaying?

Re: Batch convert now rotates images
now it's good. For embedded thumbnail and EXIF orientation, you had not the same behavior in previous 1.8.6?

Re: Batch convert now rotates images
To be honest, I can't remember! I only noticed it now because I was looking to see if it was all working OK.
But now the bug is fixed, the other things aren't a problem, just thought I'd mention it to let you know.
