1.8.8 Freezing when viewing PDF

Post by abobong »

When I try to scroll to the next PDF while viewing, it freezes on the second page. While it might be tempting to just dismiss this as a bug, I was wondering if anyone knows of a solution?

Deleting xnview.ini fixed the problem. There have been similar cases resolved this way in the past.

viewtopic.php?p=137217

Lesson learned and countermeasure
• If a problem occurs, start fresh with a new xnview.ini.

Useful feature
• An export function that reflects the latest version's settings values.

・Exemplary past solution

That said, while this is currently the smartest method, we can't rule out that it may also carry over hidden problems, so in the end I think the most reliable fix is to generate a fresh configuration file and manually reapply settings from the old one while comparing the two.

Do the PDFs you are trying to view have particularly large pixel dimensions, which can noticeably slow opening?

Are you perhaps able to provide a test file?

Because the risk is high if it is used incorrectly, I have provided it only by sending an email to the developer. I will not publish it. I apologize.

I’ve attached a password-protected zip.

Since the default view was only about 1000×1000, I don’t think the lag is caused by the file size being too large.
It freezes whenever I scroll from one PDF to the next, whether within the same file or across different files.
