I updated my xnview after many years. now it insists on autoloading new files that show up in a directory and show those instead of the one I selected for viewing. I can't seem to find a way to turn that off. Is there are way?
And if there isn't a way could you ffs change that. what failure in thinking to make such a presumptuous feature.
beyond being very counter productive for use of your software it chokes up and freezes when it's a file of significant size and complexity like a jp2 file.

Simple steps to reproduce, maybe using a minimal number of files in a ZIP?Dan Frederiksen wrote: Wed May 07, 2025 7:36 pm I updated my xnview after many years. now it insists on autoloading new files that show up in a directory and show those instead of the one I selected for viewing. There is no zip file involved, what are you talking about?
And no I wont be minimizing number of files in a directory just to cater to really poor choices by xnview

I was suggesting that it might simplify reproducing your issue if you provide some test files [for example in a ZIP or similar archive} and provide steps to reproduce what you are seeing. Or maybe you could provide a screencast that would show the issue?Dan Frederiksen wrote: Sat May 10, 2025 5:03 pm There is no zip file involved, what are you talking about?

Are you still using XnView Classic, or are you using the now-preferred XnView MP? And whichever you are using, which version do you have installed, and do you recall whether your issue started after an upgrade?
