XnView: MP 1.8.8 - 64 bit
OS: Linux Debian 12, .deb file
When I am in XnView files browser, select a few .avif image files, click menu item Tools -> Batch convert..., it does not produce the new images. I have tried webp and jpg as output formats.
Video demonstration is here.
Not only .avif files failed, but also webp to jpg (sample avif and webp file is here).
The job output should display error if there is one.

If you convert only webp/jpg, you have the same problem?
Pierre.
Re: 1.8.8: Batch convert tool not converting some files
In my first post, I have mentioned that what also fails is "webp to jpg". So I am unsure why you are asking. I have just spent time to download mine linked .webp file and tried to "Batch convert", selecting jpg as output format and it did not create the .jpg image (failed).
If You want to know the XNview conversion progress output, it is here (no errors).
Please let me know what is next to test/try/do.

Re: 1.8.8: Batch convert tool not converting some files
If you don't use 'Keep original file when encoded...'?
Pierre.
Re: 1.8.8: Batch convert tool not converting some files
Yes, I was not aware, sorry. I had that experimental option "Keep original file when encoded result is larger (experimental)" enabled/ticked on the Batch Convert / Output tab. After un-ticking it, then the source 6kB .webp has been replaced by 10kB .jpg.
So my only complaint in this issue/ticket is that the XNview did not indicate that it did not complete the task of coming up with a jpg file in its output log (Status tab), due to "'Keep original file when encoded...'" option enabled.
Consider if you can better indicate it in the conversion report/log.
