For me this problem is still there in the latest versions of XnConvert and XnView.

Dear Pierre, thanks for taking care of this issue, but I'm not able to test it on XnViewMP, beause I simply can't find the option to export as AVIF.
I also selected AVIF in the Settings > Formats, but on export view its always a standard format selection. Please advice.

I can confirm that I just ran into this issue still in the just downloaded latest Mac version:
XnConvert Version 1.105.0 - x64 (Apr 16 2025) - Libformat version 7.221
I have Avif as option and when selected and click convert, error for all images: xxxxxxxxxxx.avif : not an image
