1.9.2 - face tag - filter/write/crop

Post by user0 »

XnViewMP 1.9.2
Windows11 (24H2), display resolution 3840x2160, dpi scale 150%

Browser/Viewer - face tag

To reproduce:
0. prerequisites
- clean portable version
- install Face tagging plugin
- check import 'Face tag' in Settings>Metadata
- have 2 test images (photo-4iptc-heads.jpg and photo-stalactite-stalagmite.jpg from IPTC Image Region Examples) in folder

issue A - filter
1. open folder in Browser
2. press 'Update Catalog from Files'
3. (optional) restart app
4. select entries from both images in 'People' filter in Catalog filter pane
only one image will be shown

issue B - write
1. select any test image in Browser
2. open Face tag...
- press Search face
- add names to 4 faces
- press Write button (agree to overwrite XMP face regions)
- close Face tag tool
3. open Face tag tool again
no changes have been written into image

It looks like app:
- writes regions only via Regions.RegionList tag AND
- ignores changes when ImageRegion metadata already exists

issue C - crop
1. open any test image in Viewer
2. crop it in any way
regions will be adjusted to the new image size and will not follow the content, becoming useless
expected behavior
probably regions should stick to the content, also if marked content is cropped out - delete region from metadata

Re: 1.9.2 - face tag - write issue

Post by jsallen »

I am having the same problem. I have an image with two faces already identified. The tags were first created in Microsoft Photo Gallery but they probably now already exist in XMP form, as i scanned the folder in TagThatPhoto. There is a third face in the picture that did not have a face tag. I select all the images in the folder. The Face Tag applet opens, I go to this image and create an area to tag, enter the name and CR to confirm it, then Write. But when I go to another image and come back the new tag is not present. I am running XNView MP 1.9.2 64-bit (Windows), Libformat 7.226 under Windows 10.
