Trackpad scroll speed too high in thumbnails panel

Hey there, I've been noticing for quite some time that scrolling in the thumbnails panel using the trackpad is way too fast. I first thought it is a macos only thing, but it happened on a thinkpad with windows as well. Scrolling in the folders pane is much slower in comparison, and feels right.

Is there any user setting? Or are such things hardcoded? Either way a fix would be much appreciated.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.7. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

In windows, this bug is still present in the latest 1.8.7 version. I noticed it says 'fixed for mac', but what about windows?

To refresh, the TOUCHPAD scroll speed on the thumbnails is incredibly fast even if the mouse scroll lines is only set to 1 (the lowest setting), and the left folder pane scrolls slowly, while the thumbnail pain just wizzes by.

Actual mouse scroll wheel works just fine, its the touchpad that is the issue.

Thanks in advance for trying to fix this for windows as well.

currently I'm on 1.9.2 (macOS 15.5) and still experiencing very fast scrolling in the thumbnails viewpane with minimal movement on the trackpad. Is there any related setting I should check? Could this be somehow related to how my thumbnails are displayed? As a comparison, scrolling speed in the Folders viewpane feels right.

Running v1.11.2 on Linux (Flatpak, I think).

Don't see anything in the Settings for the above fix. Anything I can do to get that scroll speed reduced?

I think that probably refers to a value in your .ini text file, you can find its location and open the file to edit it in Tools > Settings > Integration -- Custom_Current user_Settings_xnview.ini

Or somewhere like that, it's evidently been changed recently...

What a mess, who is responsible for that hopefully temporary downgrade?

Looking again, the .ini file is accessible from Tools > Settings >Integration > Paths > Configuration (Current user - recommended) then click on the folder icon to the right to display the ini.txt file.

Found the file but no "thumbscrollstep" or anything that starts with "thumbScroll". Suggestions welcome. Thnx.

Yeah; I tried adding that parameter with various numbers and it had no effect.

Still hoping.
