Raw files are sharp, but .jpg image thumbnails appear blurry

hello,

I recently noticed that all of my .jpg file thumbnail previews look blurry, although the corresponding raw files are sharp, and the .jpg looks sharp when if I double click on them and view a single .jpg image at a time. Please see the attached screen snip for an example.

It seems to me that this issue is new, but I am not sure when it first appeared. I have tried rebuilding all of the thumbnails in the catalog which didn't resolve the problem.

I'm currently using XnView MP 1.93, dated 8/8/2025

Is there something that I should do as a user to resolve this? - thanks!

I have tried again the steps described in the link provided to ensure that I did it correctly, however unfortunately the result/issue remains the same - in particular, I tried the fix in the following lines. Perhaps the is not the correct fix for my case?

embedded thumbnail are used
try updated instruction:

• ☑ Thumbnail caching (default)
  1. in Settings > Thumbnail
  - check Create from original image if embedded thumbnail is smaller than thumbnail [rendering] size
     OR
  - uncheck Use embedded thumbnail
  2. in Settings > Catalog
  - change Thumbnail caching size to match new rendering size (500x500) or slightly exceed it
  - press Rebuild thumbnails button
  3. reopen Browser tab or restart app

Thanks for the suggestion. Unchecking the "Use embedded thumbnails" option before rebuilding with larger size cached thumbnails does fix the issue of blurry .jpg previews in the XnView browser - thanks
