Send by email - Does not attach image

I am using XnView on Linux Mint 22.1.

I tried to send an image by email with the <Menu:Tools:Send an email> command.

I selected "Use default email client" option and it opened Gmail in my web browser (Brave) as expected, but failed to attach a copy of the image.

As a workaround, I was able to use the Gmail attachment option to select and attach the image, but I would appreciate any suggestions for getting the "Send by email" method to work properly.
