MP version 1.9.4: Catalog Filter>Properties>Orientation not functioning correctly

Post by KLE-France »

XnView: MP 1.9.4 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 64 bit

The "Orientation" function in the new "Properties" category of the Catalog Filter returns expected results in only one case.

Note bene: On the "Match" dropdown, choosing "Match any selected entry (OR)" or "Match all selected entries (AND)" appears to have no effect on the following observations.

Catalog Filter > Match: "Global" > Properties > Portrait — This gives expected results; all portrait-oriented images in the entire catalog are displayed.

Catalog Filter > Match: "Global" > Properties > Landscape — This returns unexpected results. At first, the displayed images are all landscape-oriented. However, as you scroll down, it's as if the function forgets what it's doing: portrait-oriented images begin appearing and thereafter the function seems to be displaying all images.

Catalog Filter > Match: "Current folder" or "Current folder (recursive)" > Properties > Portrait — This gives unexpected results; no images are shown.

Catalog Filter > Match: "Current folder" or "Current folder (recursive)" > Properties > Landscape — This gives unexpected results; all images in the selected folder (and in its subfolders when recursive) are displayed.

To reproduce: see above.

Actual behaviour: see above

Expected behaviour: In all instances, choosing "Landscape" should only return landscape-oriented images, and choosing "Portrait" should only return portrait-oriented images.

⇒ Despite this issue, thank you for these new "date" and "properties" filtering choices! Definitely a very positive addition to the program!

I can't reproduce, do you have used "Settings>Catalog>Update metadata"?

Yes, I did update the catalog's metadata (prompt with the new version).

I just re-updated them again just to be safe (and restarted the program) and the problem is still present.

I'll add also that there's a certain randomness to it when searching "portrait" with "Current folder" or "Current folder (recursive)". In some folders, it will return some number of portrait-oriented images (but usually not all of them). "Landscape" however always returns all images.

Sorry I can't be of more help, and perhaps it's something with my setup... Perhaps others will sound in one way of the other.

Do I assume correctly that you would like to have portrait-oriented samples?
