1.9.4 (tgz) Fedora 40 KDE - Drag and drop images always create new copies instead of move files

Post by Sprintdriver »

OS: Fedora 40 KDE

Situation/prerequisite: Have a local folder and also all permissions. There is an empty sub-folder just created by XnView (F7 shortcut).

Problem: Any attempt to use the mouse to move one or more selected files into the sub-folder creates new COPIES of the files within the sub-folder. Expected behaviour is to MOVE the files.

I've tried to hold down any modifier buttons (Alt, Ctrl, Shift) but to no avail (the green "X" overlay to the cursor indicate intent to copy and I cannot prevent this it seems).

I do suspect this may be an issue that may occur on this OS/distro, as I have Mint/Cinnamon on a stationary computer and cannot remember this being an issue on the Linux Mint computer.

Workaround
Until issue are solved I use Alt+M and manually specify destination. Or just use the file explorer to move files.
