Batch Convert Multipage TIFFs with Page Numbers

Post by dmlev »

I am unable to achieve sequential page numbers for individual multipage TIFF files after converting with XnConvert. I am using XnConvert Ver. 1.106.0 x 64 for Mac.

My Input includes 3 multipage TIFF files, each with more than 1 page.
AK-L013.tif
AK-L014.tif
AK-L015.tif

The Output results in individual pages, with original filename and appended page numbers for the entire batch:
AK-L013_01.tif
AK-L013_02.tif
AK-L014_03.tif
AK-L014_04.tif
AK-L014_05.tif
AK-L015_06.tif
AK-L015_07.tif

What settings are needed to restart page numbers with a new filename? Here is a screenshot of my current settings.

Thank you for any help.

I'm not optimistic that can be done using XnConvert although by all means try, I think the XnConvert interface would likely require either a minor change to default file naming or an additional option added.

However, I'm confident after a quick test using the NConvert command line software that a simple script could in principle produce the required result, and that even without previous script experience once developed it could provide a viable solution, if this is something you to need to do regularly.

Thank you for your reply, cday. I have spent several hours trying different settings to achieve my desired result. Your note confirms my lack of success. The forum did have older posts about this problem, but it may have been resolved in NConvert. I am not a programmer so I did not try that solution.

I think my answer is to extract pages from my multi-tiff files individually in order to have individual tiff files for archiving. It will be time consuming, but is doable.

I don't think that you should give up too easily when there may be a quite simple solution to your need!

Would you be able to provide a small number of representative TIFF files that I could run through my [very] draft batch conversion script, if necessary using a private download link sent in a PM?

Yes, I can share a few files for testing. Thank you. Please let me know how to send the files.
