Viewing Illustrator .ai files

Post by Gummo »

I have Xnview Classic and MP installed. Ghostscript 32-bit and 64-bit are also installed.

Classic won't open .ai or .eps vectors but MP will only open .eps ones in browser and viewer.

Help!

In XnView MP Tools > Settings... > View > Filter -- Custom do you have AI/PDF/AI selected?

That would seem to be a prerequisite for viewing those formats, but possibly not sufficient...

See also Tools > Settings... >File list > Custom filter, to complicate matters, not sure how those two settings interrelate.

I am in any case in Linux Mint and can, with both those selected, view an example .AI file, not sure which Ghostscript release is currently installed, the last two years or so there have been a series of new GS version compatibility issues, so you might test an alternative download.

In the event of continuing difficulty, you might provide an example AI file either as an attachment or via a download link.
