bug or feature? unable to resize browser window

Post by lamoid »

When I open the file browser of xnview 0.96.5 in windows 10, it is not possible to move or resize the window. In fact all the window manipulation tools are missing: cannot close it by clicking on an 'x' in the upper right corner. It's not there. Neither are the minimize or maximize icons. I used to be able to adjust the size of the browser window or close the program by clicking on the 'x' icon. Why is that no longer possible?

Recently I experienced exactly the same with the latest version of XnView MP: the Browser Window is microscopic on my UHD resoultion screen, it lacks the borders and the resize bottom-right corner. I don’t know how to resize it. Alt+Space opens the menu with ‘Size’ greyed out. Win+Left/Right Arrow has no effect (Win+Up/Down Arrows work as, probably, intended, to maximize/minimize the Browser Window).

I don’t know how I made it happen but closing XnView MP, restarting computer, trying to locate a relevant setting, are all of no effect.

I have been stuck with this nearly unusable state if Browser mode for weeks, updating XvView MP didn’t help.

I am not sure about how to understand Post #2 (just in case, I pressed Ctrl-F11 on the Browser Window — this had no effect).

Before submitting my post, I was making every effort to make sure that I didn’t miss something. In particular, I was trying Windows keyboard shortcuts for resizing windows. When I applied Win+UpArrow, the Browser Window changed its size and almost filled the screen. I noticed, afterwards, that every time I start XnView MP now, the Browser Window opens up in this way, I don’t see how I could revert to the prior situation when the Browser Window was always opening tiny-tiny. The Browser Window is still missing the borders and the resize corner, there are no buttons for maximizing/minimizing/closing the window.
