Paste from clipboard fails

I can cut and paste most images out of XnView Classic; however, the attached image does not work.

Open the attached image and try to copy and paste it into another application.
Noting happens in MS Word, but when I paste into RocketChat I get a pop-up that says "File Empty" which could be a clue to what is wrong here.

This happened using version 2.51 so I updated to version 2.52 but the bug persisted.

Your clipboard image isn't reproducing usefully, I'm not immediately sure why if it was cropped from a screenshot, although small it should at least be sharp...

Whether the text in the image is sharp or not is immaterial to this bug. Here is an all white image with the same cut and paste issue.

If I am following your instructions correctly, I'm not entirely sure, it displays correctly in XnView MP and pastes onto a blue background in Libre Office Writer:

Maybe the bug does not exist in XnView MP.
Maybe it is a Windows only bug.
Opening either of the provided images in XnView Classic, coping the image, then pasting fails for me in the following applications:
MS Word
Rocket Chat
MS Paint
Google Docs (Running in Chrome)

And I am as stated using XnView MP, you should possibly consider installing that anyway, alongside XnView Classic if you wish, but the same issue might also arise there. Pierre, with his present high workload, is more likely to fix an issue in 'MP than in XnView Classic.

If you do experience the same issue, it would be best to post a separate bug report with clear steps to reproduce in the 'XnView MP Bug Reports' section of the forum with the same [now edited] title...

Edit:

Selecting an image open in XnView MP, copying it to the clipboard, then pasting it into Libre Office Writer does seem to work.

I am in Linux and can't easily run XnView Classic now...

This is really helpful! The explanation about how XnView handles metadata and thumbnails makes things much clearer - I was running into the same confusion.
