But with Lanczos 4 repro rate is about 9/10. Sometimes 5/10, don't know what it depends on.
Note: It only happens when picture fits the screen, i.e. no zoom out is applied. Sometimes pixel grain varies.
Please send your xnview.ini, and the way to reproduce?
Sorry for the late replay. Archive with xnview.ini attached. Cleared up recent files and history.
Repro: open any image from windows explorer, the image size must be less than display resolution, so it's not getting minified upon opening to fit the screen. Also I use 100% display scaling in windows setting (i.e. not using it at all), just in case. Repro rate about 7/10, though it varies. When pixelation visual artifact is present, pixel size varies. May be smaller, may be larger. Zooming in and back out to 100% removes pixelation. Going from fullscreen to windowed mode by pressing <Enter> removes pixelation. Opening images from xn view browser doesn't produce pixelation.

I'm seeing the same problem. I'm using XnViewMP 1.9.5 64-bit and Windows 11 64-bit (no display scaling).

Repro:
1. Configure Windows to make XnViewMP a default image viewer
2. Open XnViewMP, go to Settings, and configure these 3 things. All of them are critical:
  • General > Startup > Open = "Viewer - Fullscreen"
  • View > Auto zoom = "Fit image to window, large only"
  • View > Zoom Out = anything except "None" and "Bilinear"
3. Click OK and exit XnViewMP
4. In Windows Explorer, double click on any 1920x1080 jpeg so it opens in full screen at 100% size without scaling. Important: the image size must be smaller or same as your monitor resolution so it's shown without any scaling!
5. If the image is shown correctly, exit XnViewMP and repeat step 4. You will see the bug in a few tries.

Expected: image shows correctly

Actual: the image shows extremely pixelated with 8x8 squares.

Note: the image below is 1920x1080 but this forum zooms it out. so you need to open it in a separate tab or download to see it in full size.

I can reproduce, few notes though:
- set Autozoom for Fullscreen
- Zoom-out filter - any, except None and Bilinear

also there is another similar issue:
1. set start with file to Viewer - Fullscreen
2. set Autozoom for Fullscreen to No Fit
3. open any image
image will be very small (~50x50px)
