Batch Convert → Output → PDF → Settings only opens the image compression dialog

Post by GKent »

In XnView MP 1.9.8 (Dec 4 2025), Batch Convert → Output → PDF → Settings only opens the image compression dialog. The PDF Page/Layout tab (page size, margins, placement) is missing. NConvert is no longer bundled, and standalone NConvert freeware does not produce PDF output. This makes batch PDF layout impossible in 1.9.8, whereas previous versions supported it.

That is surely the way it always was, you are possibly thinking of the settings available in the File > Print... dialog?

If you wish to output PDF files from Batch convert, you would need to set any required options such as margins in the Batch convert Actions tab.

NConvert will output loaded image files to PDF format, again with any selected format settings; to add margins include a Canvas resize term.
