Another suggestion. Cropping is one of the most needed operations when editing photos.
I'll demonstrate by how I have set button mappings.
Left button:
no modifier: pan image
This makes most sense when viewing images in large zoom area.
Anyway majority of crop UI:s in photo editors seem to work so that when you drag&drop with left click it executes "make selection".
And after that double clicking the cropped area executes the crop (and thus corresponds to pressing crop button in XNMP UI).
Currently in XNMP if you have mapped no modifier of left button to panning it pans also in crop UI. IMO it would make sense to have different settings for crop UI, either independent button mappings or static ones.
I have solved this (not in best way) by mapping left button ctrl modifier "make selection". But as in other photo editors it is normal left click it is easy to make accidental left clicks before remembering that it was ctrl modifier.
Other problem is that as ctrl-wheel is mapped to zoom in/out (kind of defacto) when searching pic for details it is easy to press ctrl down for long duration and then zoom in and out with wheel. But sometimes you want to pan as well and if ctrl left is mapped to "make selection" you have to lift ctrl to pan image. Similar problem if mapping it to alt or shift.
So IMO most sense would be to have independent mappings for crop UI to speed up workflow.
