Mac: no Info display in window, only in Full Screen

Post by DeusExMamiya »

XnView MP version: 1.10.0 (Feb 23 2026)
macOS version: Sequioa 15.7.4
Display: LG 37.5-inch (3840 × 1600)

BUG:
Preferences -> View -> Info: the choices entered here (EXIF selections etc.) are not displayed in the View window of an image (even when the window is maximized). They show up only when Full Screen mode is clicked.
They disappear again when reverting from Full Screen to normal View.
This happens with all image types (JPG, raw, etc.)

'Info' in Tools > Settings... > View -- Info ? [Settings may be in a different location on a Mac]

In that window, there is a small checkbox at bottom-left Always show in fullscreen, I'm not immediately sure how to interpret that text...

As has been mentioned, this is not a bug. The application is functioning normally. You just need to learn how to use the Info overlay. :) It's not obvious, and of course there's no documentation, but it's not difficult.

Unless your have the "Always show in fullscreen" option checked, the Info overlay only displays when you manually activate it. And that option only applies to full-screen view, not to maximized windows. There is a difference. To go to Fullscreen mode, use the toolbar button or use the shortcut key assigned to cmd_fullscreen.

To manually show or hide the info panel, you execute the cmd_showInfo command, which by default is set to the I key. Check your shortcuts.

Use that shortcut key, and you can toggle the Info overlay on or off regardless of what size your window is. Once you toggle it on, it's "sticky" so it will also appear on the next image you load, etc, until you turn it off again.

Hopefully this helps...
