1.10.5 Transparency removed, edit menu, remove horiz or vert strip

Edit > remove horizontal strip
Or: Edit > Remove vertical strip
also removes the transparency.

Effect: The transparency is replaced with a color.

To reproduce:
1. open this transparent image

2. draw a selection

3. from the top menu, choose:
edit > remove horizontal strip

Actual behaviour (bug):
The transparency is removed:
edit > remove horizontal strip

The alpha channel has been removed, because these menu entries are disabled:
view > use alpha channel
image > remove alpha channel

Expected behaviour:
The transparency should remain, like it does when choosing:
Edit > Automatic crop...
and either of the modes:
- Edges
