Virustotal triggered the .zip | False-Positive?

Post by anewuser26 »

Hey,

pretty sure this is a false-positive, but since i have had some great experiences with e.g. being one of the Notepad++ Auto Updater Victims
and years ago with LastPass Hack and stuff, im not trusting software with the slightest alarm without checking it somehow.

See: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/bbd ... f02d2e4201

Any dev here that can elaborate, or check with the AV-vendor to get this removed.
Makes me at least uncomfortable without double-checking it.

And dont get me wrong, i get it, 1 of 50 scanners, "generic" maleware name and an unknown scanner.
Still i thought i could check here for some information on that.

Im guessing the reason you point me to a 11 years old thread is that you mentioned
MaxSecure as a trash-antivirus back in it? Are you the/one of the dev? Im not sure, the amount of posts
your account has is huge, but i cannot figure that out a 100%.

Anyways, will take this as a F/P, i need to run some re-imagineerings urgently.
Im agreeing that this was a unknown scanner that alerted.

I'm not a dev and post is not 11y old.
While your concern is valid and it's worth checking development environment, I wouldn't rely on MaxSecure or other lesser-known 'antiviruses'.
You may want to check their reputation online.

Oh man, im sorry, i somehow read the left side, where (your) account info is. sorry for that, wasnt trying to be mean or something.
I checked some sources on MaxSecure (reddit etc.) - this company seems to be fishy and unloved by many people. Will skip its alerts.
Thanks for replying and i guess for all the work you put in this forum with all these posts/answers.

Hope this gets appreciated enough by all in here that come here more regular than me for one question.
peace!
