XMP counterpart to IPTC:ApplicationRecord:FixtureIdentifier.

Post by Dominius »

Isn't it Xmp.dc.Event?
That's what I've always used. I don't see it after adding FixtureId in the "Edit XMP" window, and my Settings in version 1.11.2 are set to write identical data to each section.

Am I out of date with this pairing? If so, what in the app's Edit XMP dialogue should I look for?

I'm not sure where you're getting that...

Is this some sort of Acdsee-ism? Exiftool recognizes "FixtureIdentifier" as an ACDsee tag in addition to IPTC, but that's it.
A google search reveals Iview Media Pro claims to use FixtureIdentifier<->Event, but that seems both idiosyncratic and wrong.

In the IPTC Spec, the correct mappings are IPTC:EventIdentifier<->XMP:EventID and IPTC:EventName<->XMP:Event.
So Event in XMP would correspond to EventName in IPTC, not FixtureIdentifier.

Also in the IPTC spec, 2:22 FixtureIdentifier does not seem to have a named identifier in XMP. It's just iptc4xmpiim:iim2-022
http://www.iptc.org/std/IIM/4.1/specifi ... spec_1.pdf

You can find various docs and info here: https://iptc.org/standards/iim/

It is possible to read/write IPTC:FixtureIdentifier in XnViewMP, but there seems to be a bug associated with it.

In XnViewMP, when you use Edit IPTC (IIM) to write "Job ID" it will write IPTC:FixtureIdentifier into the master file, but I think this is actually improper, as described above. It does not write this information to the sidecar file.

Further, if you switch Edit IPTC into one of the XMP modes, the Job ID field is greyed out and unavailable, indicating the application does not support this field in XMP.

I see no way to see or edit this field (either Job ID or Fixture Identifier) in Edit XMP.

How exactly are you doing that?

So right now, as I mentioned above, you can use the Edit IPTC dialog (in IIM mode) and use the Job ID field to read/write Fixture Identifier. But that might get corrected.

For what purpose are you trying to use FixtureIdentifier, and what app have you been using to write it?
