XNView MP doesn't show metadata in searches

I use XNView MP to find photos in my photo collection.

I have been using the program for 10 years but suddenly it's not working properly.

I can no longer find the relevant photos using the search box.

Example:

I want to find all photos with the word “elephant” including those photos where elephant is only written in the metadata (e.g. XMP or EXIF).

It doesn't work.

I have “Updated catalog from files” many times.

It makes no difference whether I use the search box on the front page or the binoculars.

My photo collection currently contains 20,000 photos.

If I take 2000 of them and put them in a separate folder, everything suddenly works.

If I do the same with 8000 photos, it doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for answering.

Example:

I look for "Frederiksberg".

In my main photo library, I only get one hit. And that's only because Frederiksberg is part of the title of the photo.

In my library of 2000 photos (which also all lie in the main library) I get 8 hits because Frederiksberg is mentioned in the IPTC-IIM and XMP metadata 7 times.

Why doesn't my main library get hits when the search word (Frederiksberg) is included in the metadata? It always worked before. Now I can't make it work. My main library contains 20000 photos, mainly jpg's.

you filter the 'Istock2' folder, the other files in this folder have 'Frederiksberg' in their IPTC/XMP metadatas?
Using 'quick filter' allows you to filter the current file list, not to search in all folders
