Problems syncing edited keywords

Post by ChasZuck »

Possibly I am not doing something correctly. If I edit keywords in File Explorer, they are not there or not removed depending on the edit. After editing keywords/tags in File Explorer, I Update the catalog from files, but changes area not in XnView. Same way if I edit in XnView they do not appear in File Explorer after I edit and hit Update Files from Catalog.

Ensure all the boxes are checked in Tools->Settings:Metadata (Face tag & Exiftool are not relevant)

If you are using Sidecar files and sidecar files are present for the image files you modified, then you will have to use "Update Catalog from Files +Options", and select "Master files only".

Hopefully this helps…

I have no idea what a sidecar is.
What I am trying to do is combine some keywords to reduce my keyword/tag list. If I change a keyword in XnView I would like it to sync in File Explorer tag and I I change the tag in File Explorer it is synced in XnView. Is that possible. I did check the boxes that were not checked as you suggested.

Then you probably aren’t using them.
