In the last version 1.11.2 I have noticed something strange that did not happen before:
When I enter a folder with several images (usually the same type, for example, all TIF) if I order by name into the folder by default (Windows 10 pro) and make a double click to open the first image, it opens in XnviewMP viewer, but is not marked as the first image, the first file arrow is active.
That means XnviewMP is not sorting the files as Windows 10 does. If I go forward, the images are not sorted correctly; they seem to appear in random order or almost random. If I press the first file arrow, it goes to a random image, not the first one in the folder.
In past versions, always show the images in the correct order by their name (same as Windows).
Is this a bug in this new version?
Is there a configuration to correct this behaviour?
Images sorting into XnviewMP viewer is not equal to windows sorting

you canxnview wrote: Sat Mar 21, 2026 6:33 am If you have a problem with sort, remove columns entry from xnview.ini, there was a problem before 1.10.5 when importing previous config
- try to fix
1. fix columns
- open xnview.ini and remove 'columns' in [Browser] group OR
- select <Default> in Settings>Browser>Columns
2. set sorting order
- Browser tab > View menu > Sort by
OR
- start with clean settings
- rename xnview.ini
