XnView: MP 1.11.2 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 11 - 64 bit
Short description:
In the Catalog Filter panel, the item counter displayed in parentheses is not shown when the Catalog Filter scope is set to Current folder.
Effect:
Users cannot see the number of matching catalog entries for each filter category when working with the Current folder scope, making it harder to quickly evaluate filter results.
To reproduce:
1. Open the Catalog Filter panel.
2. Ensure the catalog is up to date and contains files matching one or more filter categories.
3. Set the Catalog Filter scope to Global and verify that the counters are displayed correctly.
4. Change the Catalog Filter scope to Current folder.
5. Observe the filter categories and their counters.
Actual result:
When the scope is set to Current folder, the counters in parentheses are not displayed, even though the catalog is aligned and there are matching items that should be counted.
Expected result:
The counters should be displayed in parentheses next to each filter category when using Current folder, just as they are when using the Global scope.

Re: 1.11.2: Catalog Filter counters are not displayed when scope is set to Current folder
This functionality works fine for me, venik.
Please provide two screenshots that show both the catalog filter AND the folder pane (so we can see what folder you're in), one in current folder mode and one in global mode.

Hi Pierre, Jkm,
thank you for the quick feedback.
here you can find attached the requested pictures:
Rating filter: Global catalog filter: I have attached also xnview.ini file .
The XnView.db is around gb dimension...
However I have checked a couple example on the given folder,
The pictures with rating are there..
Feel free to ask if there is anything else to support you.
Thank you in advance,
Vincenzo

Re: 1.11.2: Catalog Filter counters are not displayed when scope is set to Current folder
Thanks, and if you use 'Current folder', it works?
Do you use 'base path' for catalog?
Pierre.

Re: 1.11.2: Catalog Filter counters are not displayed when scope is set to Current folder
Hello Pierre,
I have the same issue, still on 1.10.5.
I did a fresh start with Thumb.db and XnView.db (deleted them).
Started XnViewMP, the current folder with 12 pictures is cataloged.
Settings, Metadata, Exiftool was already checked.
With the Catalog filter set to Current folder, Properties show no counters for Orientation or Aspect ratio.
With the catalog filter set to Current folder (Recursive), also no counters.
With the catalog filter set to Global I get counters.
Both orientation and aspect ratio have values, together with poth properties 12 (correct).
In my case Base path is one level higher than the folder with the 12 pictures.
ADDITION:
I checked what happens if I delete my Basepath.
Then I get counters for Current folder, and they are correct.
So, I never understood where basepath is used for, but should that be left empty perhaps?

Re: 1.11.2: Catalog Filter counters are not displayed when scope is set to Current folder
Basepath should not be modified except in a particular use case involving multiple computers, and if you know exactly what you're doing. Since you don't understand it, you should leave it at the default. Changing the base path on a populated database can leave db entries invalid. There is a warning on it when you click the ... box to change it that you should have heeded. Perhaps there also needs to be a warning if the user just types in the entry field.HanVroon wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2026 6:03 pm In my case Base path is one level higher than the folder with the 12 pictures.

The default for base path is \
HanVroon, what exactly did you have for your base path, when you had the problem? Or post a screenshot.
Venik, please post a screenshot of your Settings:Catalog screen.

Re: 1.11.2: Catalog Filter counters are not displayed when scope is set to Current folder
Right, jkm,
So leave it empty.
Perhaps that warning was not there yet in version 0.68 in 2014
I must have filled it in long ago, and by xnview.ini was copied to new versions ever since.
I remember yesterday that after I removed basepath I had some kind of orphan D:\Kopieen\Sync#Photo\3Nieuw entry in Catalog. Removed that.
To answer the question:
As you see in the screenshot the 12 pictures are in: D:\Kopieen\Sync#Photo\3Nieuw
My basepath was: D:\Kopieen\Sync#Photo (one level higher.
After I emptied it yesterday it is now: \
But, Pierre seems to have found something....
So leave it empty.
