1.11.2: Batch Rename filename lenght limit

Post by ttfn »

XnViewMP: 1.11.2 [10051] 64-bit
OS: Ubuntu 24.04 & Windows 10 (22H2)

Batch Rename fails with an error message (Error: The files cannot be renamed, an error occurred.) if any of the files have names longer that 243 characters.

Files with long names can be renamed individually.

Yes. Same behaviour on windows and ubuntu.

I've just updated to 1.11.5 and now I now get the error message if any of the file names are longer than 251 characters.

there is an OS limit of 255 characters, XnView needs to rename in temporary name before to apply output filename
