Translation Error: Date Taken

A native Spanish speaker has pointed out that “Date Taken” in Spanish would be better translated as “Fecha de la toma” instead of the “Fecha de captura” used by XnViewMP.

Well, a small update.

The native speaker is saying that "Fecha de la toma" is the more accurate translation for "Date Taken", but when he checks in Windows Explorer, Microsoft has labeled that column "Fecha de captura".

So it's a choice: if you want the better translation, or if you want what agrees with Windows.

So I checked both Google and DeepL, and they say this:

Date captured=Fecha de captura

Date the photo was taken=Fecha de la toma
Date captured=Fecha de captura

So everyone seems to agree Microsoft got it wrong. But should the app agree with Microsoft anyway?

Sorry, I didn't think so. I don't believe construing your "meaning two" is possible, since there is a question mark after it. "Anyway" in this context means "regardless". I apologize for any confusion.

What I meant was: should XnViewMP use MS's translation for consistency, even though the translation is not considered accurate?

I don't follow your reasoning but don't worry about that!

At a practical level, as the app is cross-platform with a substantial number of Mac and Linux users, it could be better to use the correct translation.

Or, in principle, the Windows version could use the inaccurate Windows translation: probably practical in the short term, but potentially a problem when further translation edits are made!
