Frequent freezes/loading when browsing images and saving edits in XnView MP

My problem is that on my laptop moving between images (using arrows) causes freezing/loading and also after I edit an image and I save it the pc freezes for a few seconds.
I tried to see if a similiar program like Irfanview caused similiar freezings but it doesn't at all, but I would still like to use XnView MP.

My laptop is a Thinkpad T480 and the specs are:
- CPU: Intel Core i5-8250U 1.6GHz
- RAM: 8 GB
- GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620

Should I upgrade some components? What is the problem?
