B2: Creating of video thumbnails is stopped...

Post by Dreamer »

When thumbnails for videos are creating in thumbnails and details view, press F9. Creating is stopped. Press F9 again to switch to thumbnails view - some thumbnails are not created.

- disable cache
- place at least 20 videos to any folder
- set view to thumbnails and details
- press Ctrl+R and F9 immediately
- press F9 three times
= just few thumbnails are created and creating is stopped

Edit: F5 changed to Ctrl+R

Confirmed.
But the problem is not limited to videos.

Prerequisites as before.
Just go to folder with many pictures, select image when thumbnails are created and pres Open button. Thumbnail creation is stopped.

Do you think that it's better to continue the thumbnail creation?

Is there any reason NOT to continue?

I think it's better to continue thumbnail creation.

A background thread to keep on thumbnailing would be best IMHO.

When I switch to details view (no scan headers), I would not want a background task running (that defeats purpose of details view for me).

Not fixed in RC1.

I'll change steps a bit (F5 should be Ctrl+R).

I can confirm with these steps.

It's also possible that DivXSM.exe is interfering IF DivX AVI's are involved. Same can be said for FFDShow or any other DirectShow filters.

Another test - MPEGs only and disabled xnview.exe in ffdshow - still the same.

And another test with the same pictures in explorer - no bug there, when view is change while creating thumbnails, it works good when it's switched back to thumbnails view. So it's probably xnview bug?

I've done all my tests using Mixed Vids (AVI,MPG,MOV and WMV) and the bug exists.
I'm on standby regarding this bug until 1.82 RC2 comes out.

But then you change Browser view. I think we talked about situations when thumbnails are still opened when another option/View is started.
