Re: Next features
Selecting the color of labels for a given extension, as in XnPC.
Convert gif to animated jxl. Now only the first image is made.

Re: Next features
Edit dates. Can you add:
File create, file modify, files access
... dates as target ?
Even if some devices overwrite some of these fields after saving...

Re: Next features
Right
I ran tests with ExifTool : ( here exiftool field names )
- The File:FileCreateDate field does not seem to exist on Android. File:FileModifyDate is used instead by Android Galleries
- The File:FileModifyDate and File:FileAccessDate fields are editable
- The File:FileInodeChangeDate field is read-only and is the the time when the file's metadata or attributes were changed.
This field seems to be called "Create Date" in xnview mobile. Could this be a mistake?

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

It seems that File:FileModifyDate is changed by Android on 11+ when re-scan is made...michel038 wrote: Thu Aug 20, 2026 1:04 pm - The File:FileModifyDate and File:FileAccessDate fields are editable

En "Exception under Android 11:
MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission ("All Files Access"): Only apps granted this system-level special permission (file managers, backup tools) retain the ability to use the standard POSIX API to modify file dates. Google strictly controls the rollout of this privilege on the Play Store."
It might be useless to keep working in this direction. Personally, I'll stick to managing photo dates on a PC before transferring them to Android
Too bad for those who insist on using file-date-based galleries

Re: Next features
When it comes to new functions, I am reminded of the request from the beginning of the tests. The idea is to be able to set the sorting and grouping of each folder separately.
There would be a global setting in the Settings, and as long as the settings are not changed in a given folder, changes in global settings are included, such a folder would change after new global settings. But once a folder was set, only that folder would be changed.

Re: Next features
- Rotate, adjust stillpictures (contrast, gamma, exposure,...). Removing XnConvert, ResizeMe would free some spaces on our phones
- Display metadata under thumbnails for videos, similar to the labels under pictures
- Manage, restore dates/times for videos as most tools managing videos erase or reset these metadata. So far I use EXIF Pro. It works fine for both pictures and videos but becomes obsolete vs new releases of Android.
- Set metadata date/time based on timestamp in the filename. I managed to create scripts (.cmd) to do that on my PC and I'm reluctant to start equivalent dev’ on Android
Daniel, happy user for 20 years, to manage photo and videos and share them in slideshows (Windows 11, Linux Ubuntu and Android)
