Color Management folder is not visible

Post by ANPE »

Buongiorno to all the cummunity,
I noticed that after editing a RAW file in Photolab 9 and exporting it as JPEG (full size) or as TIFF (8bit), if during export I select ICC Profile = SRGB IEC 1966.21 the most bright cone colors and very similar to those I see during editing, while if I export having selected ICC Profile = Acrobat RGB the colors are duller.

I have verified that Windows 11 uses the color profile generated by my monitor (BenQ SW271) but it seems that this is not recognized correctly by XnView. Unfortunately, I cannot verify which color profile is transferred from Windows to XnView because I cannot access the Color Management section of XnView.

I have the XnView version 1.11.5, I was told that the settings for color management are inside: Strumenti/Impostazioni/Visualizzazione (Tools/Settings/Display). Unfortunately within the Display folder it appears only Filtro / Miscellanea / Infomazioni / Schermo Interp (Filter/Miscellanea/Information/Full Screen) sections while the Color Management section does not appear (see attached picture).
What can I do?

Thank you in advance for the advice you can give me
Andrea

Welcome to the forums...

I'm sorry you’re having trouble finding things. The interface can sometimes be confusing. I'll try and point you in the right direction...

First, a general tip: you will get much better support if, when making screenshots of the interface, you change the language of the application to English or French. Those are the languages of the forum, so it will enable people here to read them. You can change that in Settings:General (Impostazioni:Generale). Temporarily changing the language of the app can also help you follow instructions you are given in English.

I'm not sure where you were told that, but I'm guessing not here, because this was your first post - so I don't see how anyone here could have told you anything before now. In any case, that information is not correct.

If you are looking for color profile and color management settings, I don't know why you wouldn't look in the settings section which in the Italian interface is labeled "Profilo colore", or in the English interface as "Color Management". You should see it under Generale/General.

If machine translation is to be trusted, I gather "Profile colore" is not an ideal translation for "Color Management", but rather "Color Profile". But still, I should think it would be obvious to anyone looking as to the intended purpose. With certain jargon, some countries reject the terminology other countries use and substitute their own, so sometimes literal translations might not be preferred. There have been many translation problems with the app over the years, but it is available in more languages that most independently produced software, and users are welcome to submit corrections to the translations if they think it's needed.

Hopefully this helps...
