[v49] Jpg HDR bug

Post by Kadet »

I'm coming back to a topic I touched on a long time ago, i.e. jpg's made by a smartphone with an extended tonal range. There are plenty of phones that take such photos, as well as OLED HDR screens, so there is a large group of people interested in using it properly. What doesn't go wrong?

I deleted the previous copies of the Metro and made several conversions from the original to various formats, as well as to jpg. The result is that when viewing these photos in Fullscreen, the copies differ from the original. The film doesn't reflect it as well as the human eye, but you can see the difference. What's more, it's so funny that if there is avif after the original jpg, then scrolling to the right, it is shown like the rest of the copies. But when you go back and go to the left, he suddenly looks paler. In Photo details they all look the same, like copies, and scrolling left and right doesn't change that. But you can see the difference when I tap on the original jpg to show Fullscreen, which is probably clearly visible in the film.
In the realme gallery you can also see the difference between the original and the copies.

I also took a photo of the chandelier today. Here you can see the difference more clearly, although the film still does not show how the human eye sees it.

Without improving this element, I believe that the application is not yet ready for public release.

i've checked and it's very difficult to support gain map. If i'm not wrong, only jpeg/heic support it. But when you resize you lost it.
I've tried to apply it, but the result is not good...
I've tested with other apps, and gain map is not kept. Do you know apps that convert correctly the gain map?
