Re: Delete problem since 1.11.5 upgrade
I did some testing by deleting folders from the left pane and counting them as I went.
When I was about to delete the 13th folder, 11 of the folders suddenly reappeared in the list. This is really... quite amazing. Only one folder actually ended up in the Recycle Bin.
XnView MP is really great, but because of this issue, I’m still using FastStone Image Viewer.
One drawback of FastStone is that when deleting a folder from the left pane, you can’t simply press the Delete key. You have to right-click the folder and then click Delete.
If this issue were fixed, I think XnView MP could directly replace software such as FastStone and ACDSee.

My operating system is Windows 11, and I’m using the portable version.
Sorry about my previous answer regarding AppImage. I thought you were referring to the portable version for Windows.
I’m really sorry about the misunderstanding. My English is terrible, so I rely entirely on AI for translation.

ok, so it's not the main problem.votary wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2026 12:48 pm Sorry about my previous answer regarding AppImage. I thought you were referring to the portable version for Windows.

So on Windows 11 & XnView 1.11.6, you delete folder in folder view, but these folders are not removed and reappear in the folder view, right?

Even after the update, the issue still hasn’t been fixed.
Are you sure everything is working properly on your end during testing?

Re: Delete problem since 1.11.5 upgrade
I tried the suggested workaround by modifying xnview.ini. After making the change, running the program causes a window to appear first, but the file deletion still fails.
However, after further testing over the past few days, I noticed another pattern:
File deletion works normally when the folder name contains only English letters or numbers.
File deletion fails when the folder name contains non-ASCII characters, such as Chinese or Japanese characters.
This suggests that the issue may be related to handling Unicode/non-ASCII characters in folder paths....???

Re: Delete problem since 1.11.5 upgrade
I’m not sure how to generate the logs, so here is the method I used to reproduce the issue:
1. On the D: drive, I created two folders with the following names:
"エントランスの扉横のインターフォンにと入力して呼び出しボタンを押すと"
"表情を変えず淡々とそう言って"
2. Each folder contains 24 WEBP files.
3. In the software’s left-side panel, I selected the folders and pressed the **Del** key to delete them.
4. After doing so, I checked the D: drive, but both folders were still there.
However, if the folders are empty (i.e., contain no files), they can be deleted successfully without any problems.
