Re: Rotate photo ?
Please check v54, is it better to have only 1 menu item for the 4 tools?

Re: Rotate photo ?
I tend to agree. There are more and more tools in this menu. The limit is the screen size. My screen do have a ratio of 2.167. I wonder how it looks on a screen with a smaller ratio ?
In other words, is there other items in the list that could be mixed with profit ? Copy, move and even rename can be mixed together for example. The main action is renaming (same name by default as now) and 2 options add either copy or move. 2 actions in one go
Similar approach can be done by combining Resize and Convert.
Back on the question
Based on my usage and people around me, rotation and crop are the most used tools, sometimes used in combination. Creating a new entry for the rotation tool would not ease quick corrections. Would it be possible to mix both actions ? For example on a PC I like the crop fonction that allows to rotate the picture as well. On a phone screen can we easily rotate the image with 2 fingers ? Or, can we put the rotation buttons vertically ?
One more thought (sorry). While testing the rotation feature, I realised there are 2 ways to save the change done. One is for non-destructive change (simple rotation using orientation flag*) the other for destructive change (resize, convert, crop, or rotation other than a multiple of 90°). If we combine actions as suggested above, can we have an automation with one or the other workfow at time of saving ?
*Flip is non-destructive ?
Last but not least, with v54 at time of saving after a rotation an option comes, asking if the files dates should be kept. I think this is already set in the apps parameter. I realused it was Off (
). Can we just show this option at time of the 1st save and populate the related option in the parameters menu at the time ? Simplification for the users and security for all future use of the app.

Re: Rotate photo ?
Edit: initialy I made comments based on tests made on v55 while you published a v55.1 that include a single tool to crop and rotate. Now I changed the text in consequences.
I suggest to set "Keep file date..." to On by default.
What I suggested was to display the current status of this parameter during the 1st save action, give the user the opportunity to change it + a reminder this option can be changed anytime in the general settings. This means the change made here should be reflected in the general settings. This should only occur on the 1st save action to avoid disturbing the user with something he already agreed with.
However, still we have the simple, non-destructive rotation tool which look redundant but in fact is very efficient. For a same change (say rotate 90°) it takes 4 steps from the Gallery vs 9 steps for the combined crop/rotate. To me, this complexity doesn't make sense if the change made by the user is non-destructive. For example, for a simple rotation, if the tool offers Rotation tab 1st, the user can select +90° and save directly. This makes 4 steps. For a destructive change (free rotation and/or crop) we may ask ourselves how complex we would like the workflow. Asking for file format, quality %, location (+authorisation) and confirm overwrite takes 8 more steps for exactly the same result. I'm not sure an average user can understand the justification for this, just because he choose a free rotation or a crop. Other Gallery applications just execute when the user press Save. What's your view ?
I'm also wondering if we could enable cropping with multiple selections ? It make sense in the case of multiple images ~identical (rafale mode). Otherwise, the crop tab could be inhibited when multiple files are selected.
My questioning was about the general setting "Keep file date..." vs the dialog while saving a non-destructive change. During the test, looking at the dialog I understood the general setting was off, meaning the file modification date was not preserved for all the changes I did. I thought it was set to Yes by default as for most mobile editors in order to keep the pictures in the right order (tell if I'm wrong, it’s also the case for XnView/PC). I just cleared the cache and storage of the app. After restarting like a new installation the option in general settings is set to Offafter a rotation an option comes, asking if the files dates should be kept

Nice tool we have now, to crop and rotate as we have in MPPlease check v55, the dialog is used now to choose action

Forget it for the time being. This suggestion makes sense only if at some point multiple tools are combined together to reduce the size of the tool list and make one tool able to combine 2 actions in one go.what do you mean?

So the menu item opens dialog, but clicking on icon apply directly without other prompt, right? For a same change (say rotate 90°) it takes 4 steps from the Gallery vs 9 steps for the combined crop/rotate. YesSo the menu item opens dialog, but clicking on icon apply directly without other prompt, right?
And strange, I think these additional steps just came with v55.1. Maybe the fact I cleared the storage, uninstalled and reinstalled. Did I lost some permissions ? I checked but didn't see anything like "Full access".
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: Rotate photo ?
Do you think it's possibles to create a dummy file access at start, to trigger the request ? This would avoid theseWhen going to 'memory device', you have 'full access' request
Using Crop/Rotate still have a number of additional steps compared to Rotate/Flipclicking on icon apply directly without other prompt, right?

Yes, here you need to select the output folderclicking on icon apply directly without other prompt, right?

Re: Rotate photo ?
I just checked. Without the authorisation "Access all files", pretty all changes made from the Gallery, including Stars (just once), Resize (everytime),... systematically 2 questions to give access. I find it cumbersome. Here again there is a risk to "loose some clients" as it may take some time, days before a new user would go to Device Memory. If you select "Not now" you'll not be prompted again until you restart the appIt's better to only ask for permissions when you access to memory device...
Using Crop/Rotate vs the rotation icons
Here again risk of loosing clients. Crop is number one tool used in a gallery (many people take pictures with phone vertically) and rotation is number two (... they switch to landscape too quickly for the phoneYes, here you need to select the output folder

so perhaps in crop, having 'save' & 'save as'?Here again risk of loosing clients. Crop is number one tool used in a gallery (many people take pictures with phone vertically) and rotation is number two (... they switch to landscape too quickly for the phoneor pictures are taken vertically from the Pise tower). I believe the additional questions (format and location) are superfluous in 80% usage.
