1.11.6, macOS
This is new issue as far as I can tell as it wasn't happening at all before, while now it's quite common.
I can't replicate it systematically but the steps are simply:
- Select multiple pictures
- Click Batch Rename (I have the button in my toolbar)
- Set the Name Template
- Click Rename
And it crashes. One possible reason I noticed today is that one of the file that was selected had been deleted (but XnView hadn't refreshed yet).
Unfortunately I cannot share the crash dump since it's binary and I don't know what it includes.

Could you send it with crash dialog, or send it to melaurent45654 wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2026 11:11 am Unfortunately I cannot share the crash dump since it's binary and I don't know what it includes.

Re: XnViewMP crashes on Batch Rename
That's not necessary actually as I found how to replicate it consistently:
- Open a folder with images in XnView and select them all
- Open the same folder in Finder
- Delete one of the images in Finder
- Immediately switch to XnView (before it has time to refresh)
- Open the Batch Rename tool (specifically I use it with a "Name template")
- Click Rename
For me it crashes every time when I do this. I'm guessing it's trying to process the image that has now been deleted.
