Scan subfolders for folder thumbnails

Currently only the images directly under the folder's level will be used for thumbnails so for all the folders with only subfolders under them only have generic icons without thumbnails. Could we get an option to scan subfolders for folder thumbnails? preferably with customization of the depth of the scan?

you can reach all subfolders via either:
- 'Show files in subfolders' in Browser OR
- 'Import folder' in Settings>Catalog>Maintenance

Yes but that's not the problem.
The problem is the folders themselves. They do not have thumbnails if they only have subfolders but not images under them.

it could be handy to show subfolders on the parent thumbnail,
though not sure it's worth showing their detailed contents beyond the empty/not-empty state

I feel just putting images inside subfolders on the parent folder's thumbnail is more straightforward and useful......
