Something funny going on in the IPTC fields with unicode characters [first observed using v1.12.1, when context menu of said fields changed].
The letter before the copyright sign is a Greek capital beta, on my system, which I have set to use Greek for “Language for non-Unicode Programs” [something I need to do in order to make one of the applications I use behave (it is not an old/obsolete application, just one that its developer refuses to bother with modern standards!)].
